MYSTICAL MUNGO EXPLORATION

Deepen your understanding of Australia's ancient story
DESCRIPTION:

Follow the footsteps of the ancients along the shores of Lake Mungo in the Willandra Lakes World Heritage Area.

The Willandra Lakes and Lake Mungo area has become one of the most important places in Australia for studying our past environment and people. Some of the oldest human remains have been found here outside Africa, dating back to some 42,000 years old (think Mungo Man).

The ancient Willandra people left behind a variety of materials that help to determine how they lived, who they were and how they related to the local environment as it changed around them. The long history of occupation at Mungo has combined with ideal conditions for the preservation of some types of relics to create an archaeological treasurehouse.

Depart Wagga for your direct flight to Lake Mungo. Enjoy a scenic flight over the Willandra Lakes region before landing for your delicious lunch on arrival, check in to your deluxe accommodation at Mungo Lodge and meet the local hand reared emu’s.

Witness the sun setting over the rippling walls of the lunette landscape known as the Walls of China then settle in to enjoy a local wine on the deck before your 3-course dinner.

Wake to a fully cooked or continental breakfast before heading out for a private tour to learn more about the ancient indigenous history of the area. Finish up with a packed country picnic before flying back to Wagga in your very own private aircraft.
